It’s in your greens not your genes by Susan Gianevsky

It’s in your greens not your genes by Susan Gianevsky

I watched the Netflix series – you are what you eat – a Stanford University study funded by Vogt foundation. I have watched many series on eating well and also read countless books – I was so inspired by the phrase – ”it’s in your greens, not your genes” that it got me thinking that we all need to eat more greens as green vegetables are high in Vitamin A, C & E along with lots of antioxidants that strengthen our immune system and fight infection.

Did you know that the ingredient inside green veggies also assists our immune cells in our gut to function properly? Many years ago when our world changed I realised more than 80% of our immunity lives in our gut.

Just because I say eat more greens, it doesn’t mean just eat more kale but step into the world of green by adding some:

It’s in your greens

To your bowl of food throughout the day, week, month and year. Let your insides bathe in the green as this will be the nourishment they need to provide more energy, vitality, clarity and healthier you. It’s the fuel our body and mind need to keep our inner engine going.

I hear many saying I have this condition and nothing helps as I have been unwell for a long time. I have always believed that EATING WELL is our daily gift we give ourselves.

Our genes are sections of our DNA that are found inside every human cells. Genes tell the body how to build specific proteins. They are the blueprint for the human body and how it works. We inherit 23 chromosomes from our mothers and another set of 23 from our fathers.

What you eat may not change the sequence of your DNA, but your diet has such a profound effect on how you can “EXPRESS“ the possibilities encoded in your DNA.

The foods you consume can turn on or off certain genetic markers which play a major role in the health outcomes you experience. I encourage you to manipulate your genes and make it more about your diet rather than your genes. Reprogram your genes to have your back.

There is a communication between food and genes which may affect your health, physiology and longevity. Your greens are one part of your wellness jigsaw. Adding in proteins plus healthy fats keeps the flow going within. Staying hydrated plus daily movement are your pillars that build you beyond the genes you were given at birth.

A new year has arrived and keep focusing on building the healthier YOU this year.
